30 Days of Anime Day 21

Hey everyone! I realize I haven't really posted any updates of myself lately. As you know I started a new full time job that is turning to be a full time and a half job LOL. It makes me sad because I have had no time to dedicate to my Etsy shop. If any of you out there work full time and run your shops hit me up with the secret. :) I know its just because I'm learning and once I get the hang of things I will be spending less time there and will be able to manage my time better. I'm resisting the urge to crochet on my lunch breaks although maybe I should just to chill me out in the middle of the day. LOL  Other than that I have been really working a lot with my For The Love of Small Animals team, as I can credit them with getting the word out on my cat beds. Imade a little test bed so everyone could see my kitties in them. It is their new favorite hangout. :D
Just keep in mind that this cat is a huge cat :)

That's my sugarcat ( cause he's a diabetic), Sid. Isn't he sooooo cute! *little monster* LOL  Anyhooze, enough about little ol me. Time for today's awesome anime topic. My favorite yandere. A yandere is a character that may seem innocent and loving one minute but turn extremely psycho another. I chose Maria from the Witchblade anime. I don't know of a lot of anime fans that watched this one, but as I was  a comic book nerd first ( way, way first)  and otaku second, I had to watch this. I had been reading Witchblade since it's inception in the late 90's and grew to adore one of it's creators, the late so so great Michael Turner. So when I hear they were doing an anime I was excited and scared all at the same time. The anime has absolutely nothing to do with the comic, but as the comic has bore many "wielders" over the course of it's life, it was only natural to tell the story of one such heroine living in Japan. Was it my favorite? No, but it did have it's good moments and some memorable characters. Maria is one of them. She really always was a strange and distant character, with the mindset of a young child ( younger than she was).
She could be cute and perky one minute but you always knew there was a crazy person trying to break out, and when certain events unfolded in her life, she did. BIG TIME.
See?  Crazy Town.

And can I also mention she was voiced by Nana Mizuki, a well known Japanese singer. She did an absolute excellent job with this role. So anywhooze, as you can tell, one of my favorite characters. :) She kind of reminds me of Harley Quinn, but Japanese and much crazier, maybe that's why.  Well, that's all for now folks, stay tuned for more anime talk and more news soon.  Thanks for stickin with me. :)

20 Days of Anime day 20

Hey all! Here to post my favorite Shojo anime. Shojo is classified somewhat as non-offensive manga or anime that is targeted to a younger girl demographic. Usually the themes are quite romantic, and Chibi Vampire definitely has those elements. This vampire actually gives her blood rather than takes it ( she produces an overwhelming amount). Hilarity ensues whenever her crush, Kenta Usui ( a human)  is around.  While the anime can be lighthearted and romantic, it does have it's share of mature themes. Definitely one of my favorites though and worth getting your hands on. If you ask me which is better, the anime or the manga, I would definitely say manga though.  If you haven't read it yet, it's a must for any die-hard fan.

More anime posts to come, but I am so freaking excited about this, that I had to share. I am a tremendous Silent Hill fan and filming just finished last month so I am super super stoked. Any survival horror fans out there?

30 Days of Anime- Day 18

Something moe: Again moe is another slang term that can have several different meanings. In this instance I am choosing Chagum from Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. A)because he is a character that I can feel compassion for to the extent that if he was a real person I would want to protect him and b) because his character type is appealing to me- an innocent boy that has a high moral compass and is very humble-despite his burdens. Most people think of girl characters when they think moe, as people generally have a favorite "type" of anime girl they are attracted to, like a tsundere. I thought I would just mix it up a bit. Another recommended anime of course AND you can find it on Netflix now. Woot.

30 Days of anime day 17

Hello everyone. :) Long time no see! As some of you may know, I just started a new job, and it's been pretty crazy working full time again, as I haven't done it in a while. Plus I am learning so many new things I pretty much have a permanent deer-in-headlights look on my face. I checked. I even have it now!  LOL Anyhooze, I'm here to post day 17 of the 30 days of anime and I am so stoked about this one . I really had to analyze this character again to see if she qualifies as the theme is favorite tsundere. The word seems to be pretty open to interpretations for most otakus ( aka Japanese culture freaks), but generally it is a character who may initially seem cold and distant, but then warms up eventually as a character and becomes more likeable. I chose Akemi Homura from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I love this chick, she is amazingly bad ass. LOL This is a really short series so I'm afraid to give a lot away. She's pretty aloof at first, shy but loyal with Madoka and more rough around the edges with the rest of the group. Near the end you will figure out why, and that's pretty much all I can say.  It is sooooo worth watching. Remember how I said I love Noein and that it was amazing and all that, this is right up there for a lot of the same reasons. LOL if you ever watch both of them you will know what I am talking about. The best I can do is show you a snippet of the awesomeness that is Homura:

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Well it's day 16. I'm supposed to post a kigurumi cosplay of my favorite anime character. Frankly I'm scared because kigurumi cosplay is just frightening. LOL. Kigurumi can also refer to those full body animal suits you may have seen around some anime conventions like this:
Perfect time for a shout out: these are done  by Kigurumiuk on Etsy!

( which I do find to be quite cute),or just mascot suits in general. I actually managed to find this cosplay of of my actual favorite character LOL .
Chii from Chobits
Not as weird as some of the ones I have seen before ( there is a whole total fetish thing with this stuff), but weird nonetheless.

Check out this Anime Gifs Tumblr. ( Looks like they also did 30 days of anime). This person knows what is up.....

30 days of anime day 15

Wow! I can't believe it has been 4 days already! Time flies when you're working all the time now. :) LOL First week of my job went well though, and I think I should acclimate and fit in and all that good stuff. I hope! Cross your fingers for me also because I'm going to be taking some pictures for a possible article on Trendhunter.com for unique cat beds. Yay! After that I am going back to making a color change pattern for a Tunisian crochet bag. I want it to be super cute, kawaii even, but I'm stuck on the imagery. I want to do something simple to start, but do I want to try an actual anime character or a kawaii character? Choices, choices. If you have suggestions at all I'd love to hear them. Gamer Gyrl posted some great pictures of Nintendo inspired crochet pieces. The first picture is actually Gege Crochet ( mentioned in an earlier blog) and her Nintendo blanket. I didn't post a pic last time but I will now so you all can get the gyst of what I want to learn.
I have ants in my pants cause I'm finishing up some orders before I start on any new projects, but I totally can't wait to show you my first crack at this.

On to #15 of the 30 days of anime list: Post a cute Neko-girl. Easiest one on the list for me, as I consider the original cute Neko-girl to be Felicia from Darkstalkers. Sure, there's those anime characters that put the cat ears on and the fake tails and bells, but Felicia is the real McCoy. :D Plus I love love Darkstalkers and any way I can get them on the list I will.

30 days of anime Day 14

Post your current or most recent wallpaper:

The whole premise of this show is just weird. Right up my alley. If you aren't into a lot of sexual innuendo and weirdness though it's probably not for you.( exhibit A: The gun is Panty's panties and the blade is Stocking's stocking. Following me? Yup, didn't think so. LOL) I would choose this as my most recent wallpaper as I love how the animation style varies on the show from mature to "Powerpuff girl". It flows really well on the show.

30 days of Anime Day 13

Hi there! Well I finally feel like a productive member of society again! Launched a new blog and Facebook page, as well as listed a couple of new items. As you can see on the right I listed the clutch and a new smaller version of my Neko Chigura inspired pet caves. This one is my smallest one, and great for mice, hamsters, gerbils and such. I found a good use for my cats' mouse toys, as they are only interested in playing with some loose bottlecap that fell on the floor or that scrap piece of yarn that didn't make it to the trash bin. I have this pink theme going on lately. I'm not entirely sure when pink became my favorite color; I'm pretty sure I despised it at one point ( during the dreaded goth stage LOL), but now anytime I'm shopping around on Etsy or in the craft store I'm like, "Oooh, that's a cute shade of pink!" For shame. ;)

Anyways, today's anime topic is to display a Cosplay picture of your ‘waifu’ or Husbando’
I personally am a fan of cosplay. I have tried on a few occasions to make my own costumes and have worn them to Comic Book conventions, but I'm not a great seamstress or anything so I refuse to do it again unless it's really well done. (Looking back some of my cosplays have been absolutely horrid LOL. I totally admit it and I learned my lesson!) Last year I dressed up as Ichigo from the movie Kamikaze Girls which turned out pretty well though. It was pretty much my best one.

I even managed to find those identical red glasses, and I had a long hamaka like skirt and identical shoes. I love her character and the Yankee style of clothing she wears, plus it's a pretty easy look to put together. If I ever do it again though I'm gonna cave and get a costume made.

Anyways, here's what awesome cosplay looks like. I chose Sebastian Michaelis from Kuroshitsuji :

This would be my faux husband because well, I'd never have to worry about cleaning again, I'd be waited on hand and foot, and if anyone ever messed with me, he's a demon. So there. LOL
You can see more awesome Sebastian cosplay at http://fuckyeahsebastianmichaelis.tumblr.com/.

30 days of anime day 12 and My Newest Endeavor.

Day 12- Post an ecchi picture from your favorite series. Hrmm....this one is highly inappropriate as ecchi pretty much means perverted, but here is a provocative picture of Misa from Death Note that is considered slightly ecchi (maybe more like implied) but not too over the top. ;)

Yup. BTW This list isn't generated by me, it's something that has been going around the net for a while. I'm not sure where it originated from, but I thought it would be fun to participate in. ;)

Anyhooze, big news today. In previous posts I may have mentioned one of my Etsy Teams, For The Love Of Small Animals. Well today I got their blog up and running as well as a Facebook page. I am having a logo professionally done. Mine turned out ok but I really like CandyGraphics' work so I'm looking forward to revamping the pages once that's all set.

If you are fan of all pets tiny and such, like rabbits, ferrets, mice, rats, gerbils, guinea pigs etc. Check out this group. I conducted my first interview on rat rescue and really want this to be a place where people can not only share their art, but their own personal stories as well. So be sure to Follow this blog, and like our Facebook page! http://ftlosa.blogspot.com/

http://www.facebook.com/pages/For-The-Love-of-Small-Animals/200756819967220
I'm going to try not to make it a hot mess like this blog. LOL And I won't forget about you, my lucky 13. ;)

30 days of Anime Day 11 and My Finished Tunisian Clutch

Hello all! Well today I will start off by showing you the finished Tunisian crochet project I started on so long ago.....

I think it turned out pretty cute. I used a magnetic clasp for this clutch but I'm unsure if I will use them in the future. Since it's attached to yarn I was concerned it may be tricky to open the flap, but I did reinforce that area so that it wouldn't tug on the yarn when you opened it. I think the magnetic clasp looks nice plus it's super easy to attach as you can just bash the flaps down with a hammer as opposed to sewing. I mean, who doesn't like whacking things with a blunt object from time to time? ... *ahem*.... anyways...
So that's that. This will be listed in the shop soon and I hope to have some others as well. I found a great tutorial on color changing with Tunisian crochet via http://gegecrochet.blogspot.com/ and I would love to try a large blanket or something with my Chii friendship bracelet pattern that I did a while back...

I also made this L pattern that probably would be super cute for a bag. :)

ALSO ;) I have an Adventure Time themed pet something-or-other I am working the kinks out on that I hope to show you all soon. Now that I got a FULL TIME JOB (Yay!) I will be able to actually get some yarn and make this stuff. LOL
Also, hopefully this means I am coming out of my creative brick wall that I seemed to have run into last month. *fingers crossed*

Now onto today's anime topic : Favorite mech series. Hands down for me It's The Big O.

This has all the elements I like in good anime: post-apocalyptic themes, film-noir, unique story-telling elements, and perhaps some subtle sexual tension between a man and female android ( Is this a thing for me? LOL). It's just one of those shows ( like Buffy, or Xena for me) where I'm like, "Man, I miss that show. I could totally watch that again." and just generally bummed that it ended. Might be something good to watch while I get a move on some of these projects ;)

30 days of Anime day 10 and My Top 5 Blogs

Hey loyal followers. I'm sad that my blog posts have been kind of sporadic lately. And the shop has kind of gone to the wayside too. See, I've been making a career change recently and trying to find a good job that pays the bills ain't all it's cracked up to be. Recently I got a job at a big name craft store. I thought with the hours and pay they told me, as well as the position, it would be a great way to get my feet wet in terms of doing new things. Plus I get to talk to people about arts and crafts and discounts don't hurt either. Then I got my schedule. 12 hours a week??!! Totally not what we talked about. Sheesh. I knew there was a reason I got out of retail all those years ago. So I've been pretty focused on trying to find a full time job lately. I finally got back to that Tunisian stitch project (although my hook went the way of the left sock so I decided to make it a clutch rather than the purse I planned. Once I get a button fastened I'll be posting that. I've been trying to come up with new ideas and executing them as well. So I'm looking forward to putting my energy back into the shop and blog. I feel better knowing I'm not alone. I know a few people on Etsy that are having the same issues with their shops. I suppose that is the good thing about Etsy; that you can kind of run it at your own pace. But anyways, I digress. ;)

Today's anime topic is: Favorite Slice of Life anime.

It has to be for me: Chi's Sweet Home

This, and Chi's New Address, are some of the freaking cutest anime shows I have ever seen. I mean, it's about a lost kitten. A cute, lost, goofy, anime kitten. :D An overload of animal goodness. LOL. If you haven't checked it out, it is available online at Watchanimeon.com

Also, I thought I would post the top 5 blogs I am reading right now. They either inspire me in my craft, give me ideas for a better blog, or are relate-able to me in some personal way. Enjoy!

1)I'd Like Cheese on My Entire Family - Hilarious blog! I can never wait until the next post comes; because she takes a snippet from her everyday life, illustrates it, and tells a funny story with it. TOTALLY worth following

2) La Carmina - If you are one of my followers that loves Japanese subculture and fashion like I do, and you don't know about this blog, you are missing out. There are always fabulous new finds and interesting stories. Plus I always love the pictures of her cat. Cute! This is another woman who has taken her love for unique fashion, music, and culture and used it to totally segway into other avenues: TV, Designing, Journalism and much more. So inspiring!

3) The Fabulous Animal Rescue Project- A collective group of artists that donate a percentage of their arts and craft sales to animals in need. There is always cool new art to look at, rescue stories, and tips to help do your part. Check them out!

4)Samantha Conklin - Not only is she a dear friend, but she's an amazing artist. Her new blog really goes into ways that she experiments with different media and it's always exciting to see what she comes up with!

5) Dorothy: Locked and Loaded - I just started reading this, and I have to say, I love it! It is a combination of different writers, telling the tale of Dot, Dorothy's granddaughter and her experiences in Oz, and friends, it is not pretty. LOL It's just straight up story-telling and I think a great use of a blog! And yes, Toto is her gun.

Hope you all enjoyed today's lengthy blog. It was long overdue ;) Much Love until next time!

30 Days of Anime day 9 and Anime Amigurumi Showcase

Hello, Hello again :)

Today's anime topic is Saddest Anime Scene. :/ Awwwww.

After much deliberation, although technically this isn't the end of the series ( it gets much sadder!) I would say the end of Nana. Live action or anime series, you can pick. But the live action one is the one that really made me burst into tears. But what a sad series of events throughout this whole thing ( the glasses scene...:*( *cries*). Try to think about the happy times, Amanda....think. about. the. happy. times. LOL

I have to say I love love the live action movies more than the anime. Naturally because I am a huge Mika Nakashima fan. I mean, she IS Nana Osaki.

I'm sure there are some sadder ones out there. I cried at the end of Noein as well. I hear Cowboy Beebop's ending is pretty sad, or Elfin Lied, but I haven't seen the ends of those. (for shame).

Let me know if you have a sad one to share. Everyone can use a good cry every once in a while..

Also, I realize I haven't done a lot of crafty stuff on here lately so I wanted to share my treasury of anime related amigurumi from various people on Etsy :) Yayz!

30 Days of Anime: Day 7

Today's anime topic: Favorite Anime Couple

Haruka and Yu from Noein:

I don't know if a lot of people have seen this anime (I can never seem to find anyone that has), but it's definitely worth checking out. Especially if you're all into the alternate realities and such. It's hard to really talk about it without giving too much away, So I will just say that Haruka is the main character of the story, while Yu is her closest friend. They, along with their group of friends find themselves in danger when Haruka comes into possession of the Dragon Torque, which allows her to transcend other dimensions. It is said to be the key to saving reality. The two alternate dimensions of Haruka and Yu's world, La'cryma and Shangri-La that are among an infinite number of universes are in direct conflict with one another to determine the fate of the universe. Warriors from both dimensions are sent ( some good, some evil) to protect/destroy Haruka. Unfortunately the kids will learn that they've definitely met these powerful beings before.....The bond that Haruka and Yu share is very powerful, but that's pretty much all I can say without spoilers. :) I most definitely recommend this if you haven't seen it. It is one of my faves!

30 days of Anime: Day 6

Hello again, loyal readers :D I'm trying to spend this week getting some new listings done for the shop and can't wait to show you :D In the meantime, it's time for today's anime topic: most annoying anime character. This was a really tough one. There are really some that I can't think of at the moment that are much more annoying, and I was tempted to give the more popular answer of Sasuke from Naruto, or pretty much any character from Bleach. I wanted to stick with anime that I followed more closely (but there's the reason I don't watch Naruto or Bleach-besides the fact that I think they are totally played out and overrated. Sorry. ). But I'm going old school with this one and saying Princess Ayeka from Techni Muyo!

I mean, really, what a hard-ass. I know you're royalty and all but loosen up a little bit and have some fun. It can be argued that Ryoko was just as annoying in her pursuit of Tenchi's love, but Ayeka takes the cake by trying to use her status to gain favor. ( Of course I was TeamRyoko so I may be a little biased. LOL) Plus she flies COMPLETELY off the handle all the time. Though her story changes a bit throughout the series' her rivalry with Ryoko and her love for Tenchi never changes. She she has some redeeming qualities, but she has always been one of my least favorite characters over the years. Misa Amane from Death Note came in a VERY close second, and only so because I want to like her. I really do. She'll never have a mind of her own even after everything that happened, and I spent the whole time yelling at her to get a frickin clue. I mean, she just completely wasted her life, literally on Light. I dunno he might be more annoying for taking advantage of her, and I especially hate him for the L thing too. Bastards. Both of them. LOL Now I'm mad. Also, I wanted to include a character that I love love love, but if she were real and living in my house, I would most certainly squash her under my boot....

Sumomo!! LOL. Enjoy! And feel free to share the characters you can't stand the most!

30 Days of Anime:Day 5 and Kawaii Contest!

Well Hello, and Happy Mother's Day to you all. I myself am a mother to three furkids (two cats and a dog), who leave me nifty "presents" all the time! Unfortunately flowers or chocolates are never one of them. LOL But I know they love me nonetheless :D
Today's anime topic is: Anime character you feel you are most like (or wish you were). I'd really have to pick Meirin/Maylene from Kuroshitsuji on this one, because she is a little bit of both.

In the past she really used to have an exciting life, and was a total badass, but she really came to become unhappy/disturbed with the things she was doing, so when Sebastian asked her to work for Ciel, she seemed eager for the change. In the anime, she really comes across as kind of a blundering imbecile, and Sebastian is fine with telling her so. She lets her nerves get the best of her sometimes, and even though she tries to do her very best, it doesn't always work out in her favor. However, when the house is in danger she is right there to step up and do what needs to be done for her friends. and she is once again the badass that was always inside her all along. ( This is more touched upon in the manga rather than the anime, so most people just see her as comic relief). My husband is like my Agni. ;) Whenever other people try to get me down, he always validates me and makes me feel special. Yay!

So that's just one of the many facets of me. I could probably combine a few characters to make myself up, but Meirin is definitely someone I identify with a lot!

Feel free to share what anime character you feel you are most like. It's a fun way to get to know each other. :D

ALSO..... I wanted to clue you guys in on a little contest going on via Xiwang's Etsy shop blog: http://ilovekawaiiness.blogspot.com

30 Days of Anime: Day 4

Hello, all! Miss me? Sorry I'm a little behind but you see today is my birthday so not only do I have to come to terms with the fact that I'm an old lady, but also admitting my deepest darkest secret....

Day 4's topic is:Anime you are ashamed you enjoyed. Well, being as I have no shame (LOL) I wouldn't say I'm that embarrassed about this, but I'm sure people may find it a little lame but I used to love, love, love:

Yu Gi Oh cake

Yu-Gi-Oh! Yep. Never missed an episode. Can't even begin to explain why. Ok, I'm going to burrow myself into a dark corner somewhere. ;) Until tomorrow!

30 Days of Anime: Day 3

Another tough decision to make today. Day 3's topic is: Your anime crush.

Mine is.... Hideki Motosuwa!
*GAH!*

What is not to like about Hideki? Sure he's a little strange for falling in love with an android (Persecom), but the lengths he goes to to take care of her and make sure she is safe are so admirable. He's goofy, a little awkward, but one of the sweetest characters you'll come across. At least that's what I think. He barely beat out Nobuo Terashima from Nana (shouldn't have let THAT one get away!)

30 Days of Anime! Day 2

Welcome back. :D Today's topic for Day 2 - Favorite anime you’ve watched so far
Oh man, this was a tough one to think about because there are so many good ones, how can I pick?? Well I did. I can say that today's blog post was brought to you by the letter L..... Did you guess already?

You can't beat the moral conundrum here. Is Light a hero or more twisted than the criminals he condemns to death? Who will win the psychological and intellectual battle between himself and the famous detective L? And will Misa ever get a clue?
Misa Amane is a totally relate-able character for me and if you asked me which character I was most like ( which i will ask that ) back in the day I would have said her for sure. And L is just one of the greatest characters ever created IMHO. This show is addicting and once I started watching it, I pretty much was obsessed with seeing each new episode. This is the only reason it beat out Chobits. But we'll get there.
